Lost Again

Sometimes, the Progressive/Leftists are like vampires - you defeat them, only to see them rise from the dead again.

Take the Law of the Sea Treaty, for example...

Sobbing for Celebrities

I mean, I want to give them a shake, loudly imploring, “Get a LIFE!”.  I don’t, instead ensuring my continued friendly relations by saying, “Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that”, with that upturned eyebrows feign of sorrow and concern.

Borepatch: It seems that I don't live in a bubble

Borepatch: It seems that I don't live in a bubble

I can't believe people take these online quizzes and believe anything about the results.  How do you know their premise is not flawed?  How do you know the definition of being in a "bubble" isn't believing things that the author of the quiz believe to be doubleplusungood?

A New Term for an Old Concept

Anarcho-Tyranny
I was introduced to this idea by Francis Porretto of Bastion of Liberty (and Outlaw Bloggers).
It perfectly explains why the government is so obsessed with micro-managing the Libertarian impulses of the American people, but refuses to deal with ACTUAL crimes.

If Looks Could Kill Department.

Angela's disdain.

Merkel's reaction to being handed the flag is instantaneous. Her nation's flag must leave her hands no matter what. Her expression right at the end of the video is unambiguous. A rebuke. "You shouldn't have done that to me."

We have proof of the same disdain in Obama for national symbols. What can one conclude from the fact that the leaders of two major Western nations show no attachment to their respective peoples? This is astonishing.

Sympathies

I agree with Linda Fox’s statement below. We both expected there would be more participation here from other League members. The interest was certainly high enough at first. It appears we were mistaken.

I ceased to post here because I didn’t want to be the League’s “big fish.” I have that status at Liberty’s Torch, and I feared that to be equally active here might inhibit the other League members. It may have been a mistake on my part, but what’s done is done.

The site will remain up for the present. I intend to contact the other League members to see if their non-participation might be reversed. Stay tuned.

Is Anyone Here?

I joined this site, due to the fact that there would be others posting.  Sadly, that has trickled away, until, when I looked at the site stats today, I'm IT.

For now, I'm going to spend my time posting on Right As Usual, where I've been posting since 2003 or so (first on Blogger, then on my own site).

Y'all wanna join me there - I post about 2-3 times a week, varying.  If you hit the subscription button, you can get automatic updates.

If you are a member of the League, let me know if you'd like posting space on my blog - I'm open to having some guest bloggers.

An Oldie, But a Goodie

Mark Steyn on Multiculturalism, and the Death of the West.

Radical Islam is an opportunistic infection, like AIDS: It's not the HIV that kills you, it's the pneumonia you get when your body's too weak to fight it off. When the jihadists engage with the U.S. military, they lose--as they did in Afghanistan and Iraq. If this were like World War I with those fellows in one trench and us in ours facing them over some boggy piece of terrain, it would be over very quickly. Which the smarter Islamists have figured out. They know they can never win on the battlefield, but they figure there's an excellent chance they can drag things out until Western civilization collapses in on itself and Islam inherits by default.
That's what the war's about: our lack of civilizational confidence. As a famous Arnold Toynbee quote puts it: "Civilizations die from suicide, not murder"--as can be seen throughout much of "the Western world" right now. The progressive agenda--lavish social welfare, abortion, secularism, multiculturalism--is collectively the real suicide bomb.
Our CULTURE - the prevalent, progressive culture that "everyone" agrees on - is dying.  Either we shift to a more robust culture, or we die with it.

It's the Culture, Stupid!

Frankly, I intensely dislike that phrase (It's the --------, Stupid!).  But, in this case, it does seem appropriate.

One Thing at a Time

There is legislation that is stuck in committee, that Congress needs to act upon.  It is HR 4335, sponsored by Mia Love, that would keep those omnibus bills from hitting the floor.

Here is the link for more details.
