When Marianne Williamson Seems the Sane One...

...you know your party is in trouble.

I keep getting emails from her - I have NO idea why. I haven't gone to the trouble of blocking her, as yet. I've just deleted them, and moved on.

She is, however, BIG TROUBLE for the Dems. The contrast with the far-Left candidates is obvious. She's trending on social media - people like the idea of supporting a (relatively) sane Dem, that will not cause them to be shunned by the others as a race-hater.

I very much doubt she will last. At best, she'll walk into the convention with a small number of delegates, and cast a shadow over the eventual candidate, who - and I'm going out on a limb here - I believe will be Kamala Harris. She makes a good media presence, uses her background effectively against opponents, and - on the surface - doesn't seem like a wild-eyed Leftist.

Which, actually, I don't think she is. She's an opportunist. And, she is making good use of her opportunity in the spotlight. She is the one candidate who might keep the Dem stranglehold on Blacks and Women.

I like to think of myself as more informed than the average person - obviously, I'm still clueless as to the MANY abuses of power of the Left.

Generously, and fully, sourced.

Draining the Swamp 2.0

Trump needs to task someone with being the "point person" to receive all of these types of reports of infestation by disgruntled holdovers in agencies. Then, after investigation, let the Cabinet Secretaries know about the outcome of the research, and begin removal of those that can be immediately taken down, and - for those more imbedded, surgical excision from their current post into a make-work job, far from influence, and eventual removal for cause.

Trump cannot leave that person in place - if, for Civil Service problems, he can't just fire/eliminate the position, he needs to keep them from continuing their active resistance.

Sites like this one need to be on that Point Person's daily watchlist. Think of it as an extra-official warning of problems that may not hit the level of official complaint, or of problems that have been officially buried.

The process of Draining the Swamp is likely to be a lengthy process, as long as Federal employees are not At-Will. However, I think we can count on human frailty to do much of the job of unclogging the mire.

  • Find that Point Person - if it's not possible at present, use Pence, who seems to have good instincts. There is precedence for this - Gore was used to funnel waste concerns when Clinton was promoting his initiative to streamline government.
  • He is NOT the person for initial complaints. The OIG retains that function. This is for complaints that are blocked before reaching the OIG, or for those that the OIG's recommendations did not alleviate.
  • He is also not for levels of problems under the supervisory level. This is designed to get the higher levels to Do Their Job, Without Undermining the Current Administration.
  • If a person is identified as a embedded Clog, they are to be given a chance to RESIGN - not lateral move, unless that move is necessary to put them into a position from which they can be later eliminated. Do that when the evidence of prosecutable misconduct, or evidentiary firing for cause, are not present.
  • When firing for cause is present, they should be given only TWO choices. If they are over 50, with long service in the federal government, they may apply for early retirement. If they can be prosecuted, no matter what their age, a charge should be filed. The ONLY way the prosecution doesn't go forward is if they admit to their crime(s), and accept a plea that includes:
    • No further employment in government - at ANY level
    • No lobbying
    • No working in a job that receives government funding
    • The basic nature of their crime will be noted in HR. HR will be required to warn potential employers of that nature - irregularities with handling funds, abuse of perks, touchy-feely with subordinates/co-workers, etc.
    • And - most importantly - return of all of THEIR contributions to pension. They may invest them, tax-free, in an IRA, but they will NEVER be eligible for a government pension of ANY kind.
This is a priority. Without this action, the Swamp will simply go into hibernation, waiting for the next election.

Point Person needs to be, temperamentally, the Anti-Trump - methodical, unimpassioned, reasoned and thorough. Pence would be good. There are others, as well.

This cannot wait until the next election.

UPDATE: I noticed the official charter on the website linked above. Failure to follow the charter, taken as a pattern of behavior, certainly seems to be a justifiable reason to fire the head of the agency.

VOA Charter

The long-range interests of the United States are served by communicating directly with the peoples of the world by radio. To be effective, the Voice of America must win the attention and respect of listeners. These principles will therefore govern Voice of America (VOA) broadcasts:

1. VOA will serve as a consistently reliable and authoritative source of news. VOA news will be accurate, objective, and comprehensive.

2. VOA will represent America, not any single segment of American society, and will therefore present a balanced and comprehensive projection of significant American thought and institutions.

3. VOA will present the policies of the United States clearly and effectively, and will also present responsible discussions and opinion on these policies.

Gerald R. Ford
President of the United States of America

Signed July 12, 1976
Public Law 94-350

Note that last - this is LAW, not policy. Violations of this, documented, are valid reasons for removing people from their posts - even without evidence of other crimes. Take out the head quickly using this, then, follow up with the for-cause firings.

An Unconscionable Policy

I'd heard about some states with these policies before, but had never acted upon that knowledge. It may be time for churches to band together to get these abusive actions stopped, both locally, and statewide.

Jailed for being poor - unconstitutional, but still going on.

Some GOP candidates could get some traction by supporting the elimination, or waiver/reduction of these practices.

Two Problems Coinciding to Create Hazardous Situation

Problem One: there are too many people illegally resident in this country. Most of them are clustered into a few cities/regions, where they influence the legislation, type of policing, cultural norms, and quality of life. As their irregular status prohibits them from getting work legally, they often turn to illegal pursuits, or those engaged in such activities, to stay alive.

Problem Two: some of the illegals - and others, culturally associated with them through gang membership and/or family ties - have become employed by police/sheriff departments. Those departments have access to guns, contraband, evidence of crimes, and more money than they need to perform their jobs.

The Right has been concerned about the explosion in policing. By that, they mean:

  • Over-enforcement of relatively minor infraction - making a civil matter into a criminal offense
  • Continuing the use of the "no-knock" entry, SWAT-type entry, and other over-the-top means to bring in suspects, who might have been picked up through other means, and who pose no danger to people nearby them.
  • Bribes to charge citizens with assets that could be taken through the program known as Asset Forfeiture. The more people they charge (even without a conviction), the more money the government will return to those departments. The program was suspended at the Federal level in 2015, but brought back by Sessions in 2017. See here for the laws in your state.
This is what results from that connection. Community policing - the growth in putting people with similar backgrounds into law enforcement actions in ethnic communities - has some serious downsides. This corruption, discussed in the linked article, is one of them.

Disrupting The Cables

No, not your TV.

The Internet.

If that doesn't bring chills down your spine, you must be Amish.

Even those who THINK they are not connected, are. Just about every commercial transaction, EVERY banking activity, insurance - medical and otherwise, government payment (yes, that includes Social Security and payroll), etc., is affected by this.

Not to mention school records, social lives, emergency services, transportation, utilities, food production, and a whole lot more - feel free to add more to the comments.

The Russian sub that caught fire MAY have been located in the Arctic as part of a planned operation to cut the cables - or not. The Russians MAY have been protecting the cable from action by other powers - including the Chinese. They may have been conducting normal patrols in a region that their nation borders.

But, it is a matter for concern. And caution.

MYSTERY: N.Y.P.D. Curse of The Insurance File . . .

This is very scary, and I'd be willing to say "the curse" has a name, or names well known to anyone here. But I'm preaching to the choir.
